Garuda

What is Garuda Pilates

Garuda is a movement practice that encompasses the principles of Pilates, the breathwork of Yoga Asana practices, and the grace of dance and Tai Chi. One of the key elements in a Garuda class is the breath, as this lays the foundation for one movement to flow into another, gradually building up complexity and challenge. It gets into those places Pilates doesn't, with dynamic twists and spirals, to build a lean, strong, and flexible body.

This technique is a perfect vehicle to explore fascial connections. If you want to be up to date with the latest mind-body movement philosophy then Garuda is for you. It works the Fascia in delicious ways, allowing you to find that full range of movement with fluidity and ease.

Sally seamlessly blends Garuda into her Pilates classes. Pilates can be a great way to build the integration and co-ordination for Garuda, and particularly if you have an injury, Pilates can help you build the strength up with slightly more isolated movements. If you have an injury, you can't do better than come to The Equipment Studio for a 121.

“One always leaves Sally’s classes feeling positive, supple, calm and 2 inches taller!” Pip
